Your skin can really show how old you are. You can’t avoid getting old, but you don’t have to look like it. When you take good care of your health, it shows on your outward appearance and appear years younger than what you really are.
There might not be a fountain of youth but here are some tips to age proof your skin that can just be as close.
· Drink more water
Water keeps the body functioning and the skin hydrated. Since our body is made up over 75% of water, we need water to live and it keeps the skin looking youthful
· Lean protein sources
Our hair, nails, and skin are made mostly from protein. Eat an appropriate amount of protein, along with exercise and water to achieve that youthful glow. The best protein choices are wild catches (fish), pork, and organic chicken. Avoid protein loaded with fats, such as beef.
· Maintain a healthy weight
Maintaining a healthy body weight can impact on your skin. The skin is elastic and can be stretched if the pounds keep coming back. You can tone up loose skin from losing weight and exercising.
· Eat foods loaded with antioxidants
Antioxidant flushes toxins out and reduces the bacteria in the pores of the skin, making the skin appear youthful. Foods that can boost your metabolism and full of antioxidants and vitamins are any brightly colored fruits and vegetables. For the most benefit, eat raw or not overcooked vegetables.
· Stay away from processed foods
Anything food that looks like it was made in the factory is bad for your health, and skin included. Ingredients from some processed foods can actually dehydrate and age you. Consume more clean foods, especially foods rich in vitamins and protein. Going organic will definitely provide multiple health benefits for the skin and the body.
· Wear sunscreen
Protect your skin from the sun’s UV rays by wearing at least 15 SPF sunscreen outdoors. Without proper sun protection, over exposure of the sun can cause liver spots and other blemishes. Stay away from tanning beds and instead exercise and maintain a healthy diet to achieve that healthy glow.
· Avoid artificial sweeteners and caffeine drinks
False sweeteners found in diet soda can dehydrate your skin and cause wrinkles in the long run. Although caffeine is a good source of energy, drink in moderation because too much caffeine will cause dehydration and make you look older.
So remember drinking more water, eating clean foods, and proper sun protection will make you look 30 when you are really 50. Developing healthy habits can help with better body health and with that, comes healthy and youthful skin.
