Heart attacks occur when there the blood flow to the heart becomes blocked by a clot, causing the destruction of an artery. Though many people survive their first heart attack it is definitely a warning sign that some changes, either dietary or physical, need to take place.

There are other forms of heart disease that are not directly affected by buildup, but are just as serious and must be treated immediately after discovered. Contrary to what many assume, heart failure, also known as congestive heart failure, does not mean the heart stops beating. The heart is merely functioning poorly, affecting the flow of oxygen-rich blood required throughout the entire body. If not treated, this ailment can be fatal. There is also a disease that affects the rhythm of the heart called Arrhythmia. Arrhythmia happens when the heart rate is either too fast or too slow or beats irregularly. Then there are heart valve problems spanning all issues pertaining to the valves.
