While you won’t read as many studies comparing sugar to other controlled substances, the number of research studies that demonstrate the long term dangers of sugar intake never ceases to rise. Sugar intake has shown to directly cause diabetes (and reliance on diabetes support groups) and heart disease, even in someone with normal weight. Comparing Sugar to controlled substances isn’t as farfetched as it may seem. After all, not too long ago, doctors did endorse cigarettes.
