Summer

How do you stay cool during the summer months ? Here are some few tips that should help you to stay cool during your summer vacation.

1. Drink lots of water

Drinking a lot of water will help you to stay hydrated throughout those hot summer days. Also have fun with your water by infusing it with fruits or vegetables to make your water more colorful and filled with a variety of flavors.

2. Apply sunscreen

Whether its summer, spring, winter, or fall you should apply some form of sunscreen on your skin. Especially in the summer it is suggested to apply sunscreen, to protect your skin from the UV sun-rays.

3. Don’t Layer up

Layering up during the summer, is not a great idea. Layers restrain you from cooling down.

4. Wear light colors

Wearing dark colors will absorb the sunlight, therefore it is suggested if you want to feel cooler during the summer months, you should wear light colors. Light colors reflect the sunlight instead of absorbing it.

5. Open windows at night

Opening your windows during a summer day can make your room or house hot. However, opening your windows on a cool summer night can let in a lot of cool air, which can help you to stay cool.

6. Use fans to save energy

Using fans during the summer can help you save energy instead of using your air conditioner on a day-to-day basis. Fans are the most effective way to cooling down individuals on a nice summer day.

7. Avoid caffeine and alcohol

Drinking caffeine and alcohol during the summer especially on humid days can promote dehydration. It is suggested to stay away from caffeinated drinks and alcoholic beverages. Drinking more water will help you to stay cool and hydrated during the summer.

Sunscreen Tips

Tip #1: Apply sunscreen early for at least half-hour for absorption.
Tip #2: If you’re going to be outside for 30 minutes – 2 hours it is suggested to apply SPF 15 +
Tip #3: Don’t rely on sunscreen alone; wear appropriate clothing, sunglasses, and a hat to protect your skin.
Tip #4: If you’re going outside for more than 3 hours it’s suggested to apply SPF 30 +

Enjoy your summer and stay cool.
