When health care policy in America is discussed, the focus immediately shifts to the question of how the bills should be covered and who should cover them, bypassing a bigger, more important question: Why are our bills so high in the first place?

In the United States, 20% of the gross domestic product is spent on health care, unthinkable compared with other developed countries. Regretfully financially neglecting preventive health care, including diet, exercise, and utilization of online support groups. Despite this, in every determinable way, the United State’s health care system produces results are no better (and in many cases, worse) than the results on a global scale.
