Research suggests that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals face health disparities stemming from societal stigma, discrimination, and denial of civil and human rights. Discrimination and the stress it causes for those in the LGBT community has been linked to high rates of psychiatric disorders, substance abuse, and suicide. LGBT people are also less likely to have health insurance coverage than their heterosexual counterparts. This infographic is meant to bring some of these issues to light with the aid of dependable data and graphical representation. If more people are aware of such disparities, hopefully we can work together to bring about better health outcomes for the LGBT community.
